The Best Spring Flowers & Plants For Clean Living
Nothing says spring like flowers! Adding flowers to a space makes it feel fresh and finished. One of my favorite flower and gift shops in NYC is Evflorists in the East Village. Chock full of plants and trees, scents, crystals, little gifts and yes, gorgeous fresh flowers, there is something new to discover on every visit. Armando, the owner florist, is passionate, kind and knowledgeable, a true artist. Sabrina recently stopped by and got his recommendations for spring flowers and cleansing houseplants.
Sabrina: Thank you for having us in your beautiful store! What are your favorite flowers for springtime?
Armando: I love flowers since I was a little child. Right now at this time, in the spring, all the flowers coming up are peonies. They are one of the best flowers, the most beautiful ones – because they grow in the field like a wild flower that represents life and beauty.
Sabrina: That must be incredible to see a field of peonies! I can’t imagine.
Armando: Yes! Peonies, lavender, and chamomile – all these types of flowers are beautiful to arrange, but peonies for sure are the best. Wild flowers represent spring.
The other flowers I choose today for arrangements are the first flowers that come up for spring like French Garden Roses and Ranunculus. Those flowers come from France, and they are beautiful flowers. When the spring starts there, we can get them here. I choose those flowers to have a combination of a little bit of color and a little touch of wildness. Colors of whites, pinks, yellows, and a little dark purple and the greenery together create a beautiful touch of something new and fresh.
Sabrina: We have many clients who are always interested, and especially now, with keeping their homes clean and their air clean. Are there certain plants you recommend for that?
Armando: There are many different plants that we recommend to people for their NYC apartments. For ambience we have a lot of leafy plants like Pothos, Calatheas, Lucky Bamboos, and different types of trees and palms. To heal spaces Aloe Vera and also cactuses help to absorb radiation in the apartment. Fresh herbs are great, too.
Sabrina: Everything you do is beautiful. I come here all the time, for all my gifts for my clients and my friends. Thank you again, Armando!
